The Mali embassy in Washington DC offers lots of services to both the people of Mali and the people of the United States who are interested in visiting or learning more about the country.
- Registration of births – any Malian citizens who wish to register their children with the Mali authorities though they were born in the United States can do so at the Washington DC Embassy. They will need to take a copy of the US birth certificate, a copy of the Malian passport or birth certificate of one parent, an application form and $5.
- Marriage registration – applicants will need to provide the Washington DC Embassy with the following, a consular ID, a certified copy of the birth certificates of both applicants, copy of the ID of both witnesses, and application form and $20. It's a bit pricier than the births.
- Certification of documents – if a certificate of authenticity is needed from the Embassy the original document must be presented, along with $10.
- Visas – these can also be obtained from the Washington DC Embassy as long as you present the required documentation, a valid passport, 2 passport photos, 2 application forms (completed of course), a copy of a yellow fever certificate, any tickets and itinerary details are also needed for travel visas. The appropriate fee is also needed, which varies depending on the type of visa you need.
